Record Request

The South Carolina Room at the Hughes Main Library in downtown Greenville features one of the most extensive historical archives in the state. Are you doing historical or genealogical research and want to explore the lives of people who lived in South Carolina? Newspaper clippings can add to your ancestors' story, marriage records may feature the names of your ancestors' parents, and death records might reveal the location of burial as well as close family members' names.

Order vital records, newspaper articles, military and land records, and more today by filling out the record request form below. The Library offers up to five free record requests per month for Vital Records and Newspaper Article searches to Greenville County residents with a valid library card and non-residents who have purchased a library card. Others may request records for a nominal fee. If you live outside the United States and would like to submit a record request, please email the South Carolina Room for assistance.
