Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2020

Registration

Summer Reading 2020 is almost here. This year, there are reading challenges designed for babies, kids, and teens. Check back here to join us for a special online musical performance and to register beginning Friday, June 5. While all library system locations are currently closed due to public health concerns, we are relieved and excited to remind you can read anywhere, and that reading also has the power to take you places.

Rockin' & Reading with Leonardo

On Friday, June 5 at Noon, join us for a virtual Summer Reading Kickoff featuring a “Rockin’ & Reading” musical performance by Leonardo right here on the Summer Reading page of the website. Your little ones can sing and dance along with this interactive performance designed for preschoolers and early elementary aged children.

Why is Summer Reading important?

Children who participate in their public library’s summer reading program outperform those who don’t participate by:

  • having better reading scores by the end of third grade
  • scoring higher on assessment tests at the beginning of the school year
  • scoring higher on standardized tests
Read print or ebooks

Ebooks, including Beginning Readers, are available with an adult or unrestricted juvenile library card on OverDrive and Hoopla.

Ebooks for young children are also available on BookFlix and Tumblebooks.

Sponsors

We are so thankful for the support of the following Summer Reading champs in our community without whom we would not have so many special prize offerings for our Summer Readers. Due to current public health concerns, we don’t yet know when/if these prizes will be available for our Summer Readers this year. These Summer Reading sponsors are still here for all of our Summer Readers and cheering you on!
