Adult Tours

Visit the Library! Bring your business, club, coworkers, organization, or other group and learn about Library offerings that can benefit you, your community, and your coworkers. All tours last approximately 45 minutes and take place at the Hughes Main Library. Available for groups of 10 or more.

 

You’re in for a treat with this tour that introduces those offerings hiding in plain sight—from one of the most extensive historical archives collection in the state to a Technology Center that features graphic design and job searching stations. See the journey taken by new items as they enter the library and are prepared for a lifetime of bringing joy to many readers.

Discover remarkable treasures and resources available throughout the Main Library. Your visit will take you through print and audio-visual collections for all ages, and the Children's Area including the Play and Literacy Center and Story Room.

Did you know that the Greenville County Library System is the curator of one of the most extensive historical archives in the state? This tour of the South Carolina Room at Hughes Main Library introduces such treasures as maps of the Upstate going back to 1797, a handwritten log book (dated 1794) from McBeth’s store—one of the first established businesses in the area—and photos of Greenville County pioneers. Staff with extensive training in genealogical research introduce many resources that can help you discover your family's history.

Visit our state of the art Technology Center featuring special computer stations for job searches, desktop publishing and graphic design. Learn about resources available to you like computer tutoring and one-on-one appointments with librarians who can assist with anything from research to downloading ebooks.
