At Chautauqua, historic figures like Thomas Jefferson, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King, Jr. come to talk -- a Colonial Williamsburg-on-stage. Scholars, costumed as famous people, bring history and literature to life. And it is not a Chautauqua performance unless audience questions are the most dramatic and exhilarating part. Chautauqua is authentic education that is lively, interactive, and fun! A week-long outdoor Festival is held each June under the Chautauqua tent. The Festival is free and open to the public.
