Library Cards for Kids
Children ages 5 and up are eligible to get their own library card.
Sign up for the first time and they’ll get a free canvas library bag!
A parent or legal guardian must present the completed/signed
library card application (English, Español) with a picture ID and
proof of current address. For examples of acceptable ID and
address, please see our Library Card FAQ.
How to Request a Program
We offer the following tours and programs for groups of 10 or
more. Please call to schedule at least two weeks in advance. Call
527-9248 to schedule a Main tour or program. Call the location
desired for a branch tour or program.
Please have the following information available when you call:
- Name of the school or group
- Name, phone number and email of the group's primary
contact person
- Expected number of attendees
- Age range of the group
- Primary, plus alternative date and time preference
- Name of tour or program (see descriptions below)
Program & Tour Choices
The following tours and programs are available at the Main Library only:
- Safari tour: This is a look-and-find adventure. 30 min. (3rd-5th grade)
- Behind the Scenes tour: Get a glimpse of how new materials are
prepared for checkout, the computer room, SC Room archives and more.
75 min. (5th grade and up)
- Computer Lab/Reference tour: Library staff will guide students in
accessing the quality resources and services offered by the Greenville
County Library System. Sessions can be tailored to student needs. 1.5
hours (5th grade and up)
The following tours and programs are available at all locations:
- Story Time: Stories, music and movement activities. 30 min. (K3-5th grade)
- Dr. Seuss tour: Children search for Dr. Seuss's characters as they explore the
library. 30 min. (K5-2nd grade)
- Dewey Decimal: Dive into the Dewey Decimal System with fun facts, a quack-
tastic game and a flock of unforgettable friends. 45 min. (3rd-5th grade)
