There was a party goin' on at the Hughes Main Library this morning. The Children's Department hosted a Sock Hop that was open to all ages. We figured if we held a Sock Hop, they would come. And they did—262 of them.

Our favorite deejay Leigh Ramey eased everyone into the mood with rockin’ songs to the tune of “At the Hop," " Shaboom," "Hound Dog," "Teddy Bear" and many more. Dressed in fifties attire, the party-goers enjoyed main events that included a limbo contest, parachute play, hula hoops and Twister. There was even time for a Cheerios snack and a good drink of water. Party fare included a table of library books, music, and DVDs that could be checked out to enjoy at home.
Tired participants left with satisfied smiles and music in their hearts. |
