Summer Reading started in a big way at the Hughes Main Library on Friday,
May 29th. 545 children and adults attended the Billy Jonas kickoff concert. Billy
engaged the audience with his creative songs and homemade musical instruments
that included an empty five-gallon water bottle drum. The audience clapped,
sang and made pretend fireworks using their hands and voices to supply appropriate
sound effects.
The Greenville County Library System's 2009 Summer Reading program runs
from now until August 1st. Come on down to your favorite GCLS branch
and sign up. Great reads and prizes await you!
