A look at the homeless predicament from Greenville to Columbia

In celebration of AIA Greenville Architecture Month, we are proud to host the exhibit titled, Tesselations: Architecture, Community and Homelessness, opening Friday, April 29. This custom built exhibit, focused on the plight of homelessness in South Carolina, was designed by the students of studioG1 from Clemson University’s Graduate School of Architecture. This project has been submitted to the ACSA national design competition titled: HOMEless Assistance Center. The exhibit includes plans for sites in Greenville and Columbia along with educational details of the materials and needs of transitional housing. Call 527-9293.

The public is invited to attend a unique panel of local, state and regional guests working in homeless assistance, design, architecture and the service community as they discuss the issues surrounding homelessness in our state. Join us for an opening reception for the exhibit focused on the plight of homelessness in South Carolina and designed by 32 graduate students from the Clemson University School of Architecture. At 6:30p, the project will be introduced by special guest, Dan Harding, Director Community Research and Design Center, Clemson University. A question and answer will follow along with an opportunity to explore the exhibit with the architecture students. Free and open to the public. Call 527-9293.
