Genealogical Research
The Carolina First South Carolina Room in the Hughes Main Library has an extensive
collection of material to assist researchers interested in historical and genealogical
research. While the major focus of the collection is Greenville and the Upstate,
there are many sources for other locations in South Carolina and other states.
Information Services
As an information leader of the Upstate, the Greenville County Library
System providesaccess to quality research services and tools.Knowledgeable
library staff assists the public with research by answering questions and providing
accurate information, selecting resources in specific subject areas, and conducting
training sessions and programs for library users.
Library Tours
Tours for all ages are offered at the Hughes Main Library, including a South
Carolina Room orientation and tour, a “behind the scenes” tour that can be
altered for small children, teens or adults, and several themed tours of the
Children’s Area for children in grade school.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that is provided to all library patrons who have a valid Greenville County library card. You can use ILL services to borrow books and other materials that are unavailable in our library collection. You can place and keep track of your ILL requests 24 hours a day from our website. In addition to any fees that are charged by the lending library, there is a one dollar postage fee for each ILL item that we get for you. Special Services
The Greenville County Library System welcomes those with disabilities to participate
in the services, programs and activities of the library. The library will
make reasonable modifications to policies and procedures in an effort to
equally serve those with disabilities. Reasonable advanced notification is
requested for scheduled programs. Service animals are welcome in all library
facilities.
