![]() Visiting Poet Speaks to Youth and Adult Audiences After speaking to busloads of middle school students in the morning, visiting poet and publisher Kwame Alexander will share his trademark engaged storytelling and performance poetry with an adult audience at 7:00p on Tuesday, April 8 at the Hughes Main Library. Alexander, an award winning producer of literary programs, has published ten books, including Tough Life: The Life and Death of Tupak Shakur, Do the Write Thing: Seven Steps to Publishing Success, and Dancing Naked on the Floor: Poems and Essays. A young adult book, Crush: Love Poems, is his most recent. In addition to his poetry, Alexander has written for television and the stage and has been dubbed a "phenom” by the Charleston City Paper. Alexander’s programs will be free and open to the public. He will be available
to sign books following the program.
