Alliance Francaise du Piedmont Alliance Francaise du Piedmont is dedicated to the promotion of French culture and language through social and cultural events. It is a nonprofit organization which meets monthly with speakers, films, or social activities. During the Spanish American War there was an army camp in Greenville called Camp Wetherill. World War I saw the establishment of an army training camp in Greenville known as Camp Sevier. During World War II the Greenville Army Air Base saw the training of B-25 crews. Following World War II (until 1963) Donaldson Air Force Base was home to the 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron and their C-124 Globemasters.
