Card Rally 2011

nook winnerCongratulations to our Card Rally 2011 grand prize winner! Sylvia Anschel is the lucky "refer-a-friend" winner of a brand new NOOK Color. Thank you to all who participated in this year's event!

The Amazing Read

There is no better time to have a library card than right now! During the month of September, the library wants the community to visit their local public library and sign up for a library card. Refer-a-Friend to get a library card and be entered for a chance to win a NOOK Color courtesy of Enslow Publishers. New Cardholders will receive a free tote bag and prizes throughout the month of September.

Color Nook

This county-wide event is designed to inform new and returning library card users about the variety of resources, services and programs that are offered throughout the library system and to encourage Greenville County residents to take advantage of the public library for their daily needs and enjoyment.

The American Library Association (ALA) began their card sign-up program in 1987. It’s no coincidence that National Library Card Sign-up Month comes in September, when school is back in session. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library. A study conducted by the ALA has also indicated that forty-four percent of families use the library together as a source of communal learning.
